Cognitive testing is often required as part of the application for admission to independent schools. Results of a cognitive assessment can also be submitted with applications to a variety of special academic programs as supplementary information. Either the Wechsler Preschool and Primary Scale of Intelligence-3rd Edition (for 5 year olds) or the Wechsler Intelligence Scale for Children-4th Edition (for older children) is administered during one office visit and a written report is provided to the parents within a week.
